The Health and Technology Major aims to present the applications of engineering training in professions closely or distantly related to health. It provides medical knowledge and vocabulary necessary for communication between the engineer and the health professional.
It puts the engineer in a situation to better understand the disease or disability and to put the end user at the center of the designer’s concerns.
It provides an understanding of the complexity of national and international healthcare systems, both in terms of the coverage of healthcare costs and the exchange of information, regulations, security and standards applicable to information systems as well as to the connected objects that today invade the patient’s daily life and will play a major role in his or her follow-up tomorrow.
Habits are changing and engineers are at the heart of the technological revolution. It is up to them to understand the issues and to define what tomorrow’s health care will be like.
