What training do you need to become an IT expert?
Because of its importance, computer science is taught in a wide variety of programs. The courses on offer can be short or long, and are available both at university and at specialized schools. Joining an engineering school like ECE is also an excellent option if you want to become an expert.
To learn the basics, you can start with a short 2-year course, enrolling in a program such as BUT, DUT or BTS, equivalent to a Bac + 2. It is then possible to continue with a bac + 3 by opting for a licence or bachelor’s degree.
You can also opt for a long cycle, choosing an engineering, master’s or MSc program equivalent to a bac + 5. This is most advisable if your ambition is to become an expert in the field.

To be able to carry out your tasks as anIT expert, it is essential to have the following qualities and skills:
- mastery of basic IT techniques, software and tools;
- good knowledge of English and other foreign languages;
- analytical skills;

How long does it take to become an IT expert?
While you can learn the basics of computer science in 2 years or less, depending on how receptive you are, it usually takes longer to become an expert in the field. The shortest way is to take a 3-year training course in earnest, but ideally you need a minimum of 5 years’ study to become an expert.

- to obtain a diploma at bac + 5 level, do a Master of Science or MSc with us ;
- to obtain a diploma at bac + 5 level as well as an engineering qualification, choose our engineering program.
Discover ECE’s Bachelor in Computer Science
If you’d like to learn the basics of IT after your A-levels, join our 3-year Bachelor’s program in IT. After the first 2 years of basic IT training, you can choose to specialize in the3rd year.
We offer 5 of them, which you can follow either on a sandwich course or at a normal pace, depending on your availability. Depending on your preferences and the future development opportunities you want to access, you can choose between a :
- Application Developer specialization;
- Cybersecurity and Network Administrator specialization;
- Data and Artificial Intelligence Developer specialization;
- DevOps and Cloud specialization;
- UX/UI designer specialization.
Join the ECE Engineering Program
Following an engineering program at our school is also an excellent way to become an IT expert, especially as it enables you to obtain the title of engineer. It is the CTI that accredits it at the end of a 5-year program.
By opting for the engineering cycle, you can choose to enter one of the 12 majors we offer in years4 and 5. Among the most popular are the Cybersecurity Major and the Cloud Engineering & Management Major.
Follow an MSc in Computer Science at ECE
You can also choose to take an MSc in Computer Science to obtain a Bac + 5 degree from our school. All you need is a 3-year higher education qualification in a scientific and/or technical field. You then have the option of specializing in the branch you prefer. Among others, you can opt for an MSc Cloud Computing, an MSc Data Engineer, an MSc Cybersecurity Manager or an MSc Data Management & Artificial Intelligence.
